Kostas Vlachakis

Bio:
Graphic Designer
Born and raised in the centre of Athens, Greece. He has no design oriented studies to note. After a route of about 10 years through different creative agencies and freelancing labor, in 2013, he forms along with Joshua Olsthoorn, ‘Typical Organization for standards & order’ as open platform to their personal and common pursuits, so inside, as outside design field, in order to serve as an alternative to their already known creative and working structures, as well as the starting point of research, study and application.

Typical Organization 
Typical Organization, for Standards & Order, is a werkraum based in Athens, Greece founded in 2013 by Joshua Olsthoorn & Kostas Vlachakis. Their vocation is not to add new surfaces to the existing but instead they are aspiring to discover the ‘typical’ structure of any relevant subject. Shaping the mostly undefined ‘type’ behind the already existing matter they see their work as an etymological procedure to study origin of form and meaning. In 2017 Typical Organization was distinguished as design praxis of the year at EBGE (The Greek Graphic Design & Illustration Awards).
